As you wander through this picturesque village, you’ll be greeted by charming white-blue houses dressed with vibrant flowers, bougainvillea, and verses of poetry. Poems by renowned Greek poets decorate colorful house doors, the walls of old abandoned houses, and windows, creating a harmonious and picturesque ambiance.
After exploring the village, prepare to be awestruck by the “lunar” landscape that awaits you. Massive, round, tall, or even zoomorphic granite rocks dot the hillsides, forming an impressive and imposing spectacle unlike anything you’ve seen before.
The origin of these rocks has sparked both imagination and scientific inquiry. Legend has it that they are remnants of the mythical Gigantomachy, while scientific explanations range from a meteorite impact or volcanic activity millions of years ago.
Volax is also a haven for climbers from around the globe, offering prime bouldering opportunities. Additionally, from Easter to the end of October, you can explore the Folklore Museum of the village.
To unwind and savor the village atmosphere, stop by Kafe-nai for coffee, refreshments, and homemade sweets.
ISTERNIA – The sunset place to be
Ysternia is a large balcony overlooking the vast expanse of the Aegean Sea, where numerous islands are scattered in the mesmerizing blue. It’s the perfect spot to witness a truly unique sunset. If you plan to visit the village in the afternoon, make sure to stop by Exomeria or Mayou All Day Bar (reservations recommended) for an unforgettable sunset experience.
Take a leisurely stroll through the village and explore the Museum of Hysternian Artists, where you’ll discover the rich tradition of the villagers in the art of marble. You can also venture to the north of the village to visit the Windmills of Myloi, a designated listed monument.
Keep in mind that vehicles are parked outside the village, as there are many stairs that wind through the complex alleys. Additionally, don’t forget to visit the sandy bay of Ysternia, located just 4 km below the village, offering a beautiful beach and fish taverns serving fresh seafood in a serene setting with clear waters perfect for swimming.
FALATADOS – Lost in White
Falatados, the second largest of Tinos Villages & exudes tranquility with its whitewashed residences and stone paths. The picturesque village square is home to the impressive church of Agios Ioannis-Agias Triadas, boasting an 18-meter dome and 17th-century icons. Visitors can also explore the Ecclesiastical Museum and the Sketch House housed in the old elementary school.
The village is renowned for its raki, with many presses and distilleries operating year-round. In September, the Rakizio festival is a major local event. Falatados is also known for its quality wines, and visitors can enjoy a premium wine tasting experience at the T-OINOS tasting room located nearby.

PANORMOS – The Explorers Port
The charming port of Panormos, nestled close to Pyrgos Village, is a natural harbor of significant importance, serving as an ideal base for excursions to nearby beaches such as Agia Thalassa, Kavalourko, and Rohari.
Venture to the Stalactite Cave of Panormos (Caves Panormos & Kamara), featuring four halls and two entrances. Located at the northwest end of Panormos near the small cape Kamara, these caves offer an intriguing experience for visitors.
Across from Panormos lies the rocky islet “Planitis,” home to the historic old lighthouse, a preserved monument dating back to 1886. Enjoy breathtaking views of the lighthouse from beaches like Agia Thalassa and Kavalourko as you take a morning dip in the sea. Additionally, a hiking trail from Panormos leads to these scenic spots.

Accompanied by traditional music and dancing, the festival draws crowds from far and wide, with approximately 10,000 artichokes consumed throughout the day!
Just 3 km from Komi lies the bay of Kolympithra, home to the popular beaches of Megali and Mikri Kolympithra. In the sheltered embrace of the gulf, you’ll discover secluded and tranquil beaches like Apothiki and Palio Agios Phylaktos, perfect for a relaxing day by the sea.
If you enjoy outdoor activities, you can join an organized hiking excursion starting from Tarampados and leading to Komi village. In Komi, you can also join a via ferrata excursion near Exomvourvo, which is only a 10-minute drive away.
KTIKADOS – The trail to town
Ktikados is a quaint and charming village, nestled near the town of Tinos, offering a unique view of Kionia and a peaceful ambiance.
As you stroll through the village, you’ll encounter the typical elements of Tinian architecture: traditional houses and churches, cobbled alleys, arches, and fountains.
